When D.J. takes her two youngest children - Max and Tommy - to see Santa, Max gets a case of the bah-humbugs and Tommy has a meltdown at the mall resulting in Tommy being terrified of Santa. D.J. does everything she can to get them back in the Christmas spirit.
When Max sees other children with their fathers he misses his dad. D.J. helps him get over this by telling him how she felt after she lost her mother and by letting him and the family watch home videos. Joey helps Tommy like Santa again.
